" Error could not send the message to the program " microsoft office excel

SOFTWARE: MICROSOFT OFFICE 2010 EXCEL

Problem: when you double click an excel it the following error is displayed "error could not send the message to the program".
Work around : first open excel then drag and drop the excel sheet onto it .or open the file using > file > open

SOLUTION
START > RUN
then enter the following into the run text box.start with the first line hit enter then the second line then hit enter

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14\EXCEL.exe" /unregserver

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14\EXCEL.exe" /regserver


or for an 64bit instalation
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\EXCEL.EXE" /regserver
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\EXCEL.EXE" /unregserver


ALTERNATE SOLUTION
1. enter the following into run

excel /r

WHAT ITS DOING

In the process, it resets the file associations for the files it uses, such as .XLS (2003 -2007) and
 .xlsx (2010) files. You can close the command prompt window and double-click on a document; EXCEL
should start right up.
2. Go to add remove programs then to microsoft office then click on change . Then choose repair. It will repair install the Office suit.
3. Download CC Cleaner . Then run registry repair on your machine. Should work like a charm.
4. Uninstall the latest Microsoft Office Update that was downloaded.
